I am the first to confess that as I settled down into reading the book I was disappointed in the depth in which it approached the subject. There is nothing to show the reader in "how-to" move from a lesser state of being into the state of being grateful. Being well versed in the subject matter and having written short articles in it, I subconsciously challenged the book to give me a new thought by which I could soar into the depths of the subject of Gratitude instead of the same old, mundane, surface, platitudes that were once spoken and then written, taking on a life of their own with unattached and disjointed meaning from one platitude to the next.

But then I had to stop and rethink the purpose of reading the pages of the book. I was unfairly reading it through my expectations of what, in my perception, it should produce for me rather than the scope of the work in which it was written by the author.

I decided to reread the book and give it a fair chance to be read within the boundaries in which it was written. I tapped on the "Go To" in my Kindle reader and proceeded to analyze the cover of the book in order to neutralize any expectations. I discovered in studying the cover that when I peel back the veneer of my expectations then there are new truths - secrets to be uncovered. I began rereading the contents and found that the same old, same old, mundane, platitudes now took on magical expressions with new worth. That indeed there were nuggets of truth to be discovered in each. I took out paper and pencil and rated each individual magical expression on a scale of 1 - 10 in how it related to my own present experience in gratitude.

It is the Holiday Season. I asked how this rating now translated into my attitude towards the Reason for the Season. Am I taking on a "Scrooge Hum Bug" attitude or do I project the Season as being the happiest time of my year, as a child would approach it? Am I more concerned in getting than giving and disappointed when my expectations of getting aren't met? Have I balanced the aspects of giving and receiving? Am I now more concerned in giving something valuable to my circle of influence. Something like giving of myself and the sincere gift of gratitude that has welled up in my heart in respect to analyzing the Reason of the Season.

Again, I am the first to confess that the new reading of the book gave to me a renewed perspective in my attitude towards gratitude. What is left to say is: Thank you D. L. Hart for this renewed experience. Now I am ready for the Holiday Season!

Gratitude Appreciation 7 Steps to a Happier Life Discover The Secret Power of Gratitude and Appreciation edition by Debra Waisner Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I love books that ask the kind of question I'm asking and also give the right vibe to let me know the chances are real good that the answer holds up. Years ago I ran across a quote from the esteemed late Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. He said. "Gratefulness makes the soul great." Then and there it struck me as base truth, but in Debra's book one finds the way to rid blockages to gratefulness, or gratitude, as she puts it in her title. That's where most of us are--wanting to make lived truth out of the spoken truth in our lives. If that's something you seek and want to live--a life of gratitude, this is a book that puts you in the right place to start. I recommend it highly.

Abraham Joshua HeschelEssential Writings (Modern Spiritual Masters)
Positive inspiring book focusing on gratitude, prompting us to look for the good in all situations we encounter and be grateful for them. The result is more good things for us to enjoy, because what you think about comes about. Energy follows thought.

Through these pages you'll learn to become a more positive person and sail through the trials and tribulations life throws at you from time to time.

I loved the author's list of quotes near the end by famous people, these coupled with her writing on gratitude makes a nice package for everyone to claim their power and happiness, becoming the master over your happiness and their life.

I recommend this then for those who are feeling frustrated, helpless, angry, mad or feel like they're carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.

You'll find your mindset changed when you put this ebook down to feeling more upbeat and positive. Us humans tend to focus on the negative/bad side of events, situations and people instead of taking a closer look at and remembering all the good that's in our lives.

Where your attention is, is where you are, what would you like more of in your life? Make steps to reaching towards a life-style you really want with the help of D J Hart's e-book. You'll be glad you did, I was!!
Very early in the book, the author raises her flag that flutters in the breeze throughout the book in different forms. "Gratitude is power. Its power can transform your life and requires only a single step. You must focus on all the things that are right in your life....Find the gratitude in everyday things and you'll begin to experience a transformation of spirit."
Others, including myself have put it differently, but it comes down to the something `Thought is powerful. You become what you think most of the time'
The author also points out that we live in a world of abundance. It is up to the individual to share in it. But the individual can only do so if the individual becomes aware of the abundance. If instead he is only aware of scarcity and negativity, well, those are the reward he will receive for his labor.
The book also beseeches (my words) the reader to be grateful for what you have as that is one of the tenets of developing an attitude of gratitude. And stop worrying because worrying focuses your energy on negatives, because, as stated earlier, you become what you focus your energy on. In the words of the author, "Power flows to the area where you focus your attention."
The author reminds us that life deals us good and bad moments and we should be grateful for the experiences. The good we should accept with gratitude. The bad provides us with an opportunity to see what lessons we can learn from it. How we can use it to our benefit.
The author says, "You have the power to choose your attitude. As an example, the author tells us that in her gratitude prayer she is thankful and grateful for so many simple things such as Friends, Family, Music, Good food, Bright color, even rainy days.
It was a pleasure to review What is Gratitude?- How to Attain an Attitude of Gratitude?
